Before my post on Sunday, the last time I updated my blog was in December 2011. It's been way too long!! My humans and I will try our best to catch up on all woor blogs.
To give woo a little update on what I've been up to this year:
I've been so itchy since late summer. I scratched off a lot of the fur on my right ear, and my humans found small scabs on the back of my head, so on October 2nd, they took me to the VET where they...they SHAVED me!! The infection turned out to be bigger than they thought, so this is how my head looked after they shaved me.
My humans thought a bath might soothe my itchies, so I had my first bath of the year on October 8th. That's when they found another small skin infection on the back of my head! So I had to go back to the VET on the 13th for more shaving and a re-check. I was not pleased!! They were shaving off my beawootiful fur! This is how I looked about a week or two after being shaved. Some of the fur already started growing back, so it wasn't too horrible, I guess.
The nice VET gave me some Chinese herbs to help my allergies, and it did help a little. I'm not scratching as much as I used to anymore. But I've still had three more "hot spots" (as the humans call it), so the humans shaved more fur off my neck area and my right hind leg. My humans are looking into other things that might help with my allergies, but we really want to avoid steroids. I really want to stop being so itchy!!
Thanks, Kat, for suggesting DERMagic. I told my humans to definitely look into it.
On a more positive note, I finally passed 45 lbs! I now weigh 49.8 lbs. My VET said I used to be a little underweight, possibly due to poor production of pancreatic enzymes. We haven't done another test yet, but I think the humans were pleased with my new weight.
That's it for now, but I will be back soon! Good night!!

We are so sorry to hear of your skin issues, Hero. Has your vet checked you for thyroid problems? There is a specific test for thyroid problems. It seems like lots of sibes have low thyroid and that can cause skin problems. Just a thought.
If it IS low thyroid, the meds will really help.

We are glad you are back to blogging. I had a scabby place on my back end and that's when Mom got the DERMagic Skin Rescue Bar. Luckily I didn't have to be shaved, I just got several soothing baths and sprayed with bitter yuck. Even if you don't purchase DERMagic, their website is pretty informative.
I still think you look pretty handsome even with some shaving.
Kat
