A Christmas Poem

My sister found this poem on petloverstips blog today, and I thought that it would be nice to share it with all my furriends. Instead of asking for a big fancy Christmas present this howliday season, I'm asking my humans to donate to a shelter so that homeless dogs (and cats) can be warm and have full tummies. This decision was inspired by my furriend Khyra!

A Christmas Shelter Dog’s PoemShelter Dog

’Tis the night before Christmas and all through the town,
every shelter is full—we are lost, but not found.

Our numbers are hung on our kennels so bare,
we hope every minute that someone will care.

They’ll come to adopt us and give us the call,
“Come here, Max and Sparkie — come fetch your new ball!”

But now we sit here and think of the days
we were treated so fondly — we had cute, baby ways.

Once we were little, then we grew and we grew.
Now we’re no longer young and we’re no longer new.

So out the back door we were thrown like the trash.
They reacted so quickly — why were they so rash?

We “jump on the children,” “don’t come when they call,”
we “bark when they leave us,” “climb over the wall.”

We should have been neutered, we should have been spayed,
now we suffer the consequence of the errors THEY made.

If only they’d trained us, if only we knew,
we’d have done what they asked us and worshiped them, too.

We were left in the backyard, or worse, let to roam.
Now we’re tired and lonely and out of a home.

They dropped us off here and they kissed us goodbye…
“Maybe someone else will give you a try.”

So now here we are, all confused and alone
in a shelter with others who long for a home.

The kind workers come through with a meal and a pat,
with so many to care for, they can’t stay to chat.

They move to the next kennel, giving each of us cheer…
we know that they wonder how long we’ll be here.

We lay down to sleep and sweet dreams fill our heads
of a home filled with love and our own cozy beds.

Then we wake to see sad eyes, brimming with tears –
our friends filled with emptiness, worry, and fear.

If you can’t adopt us and there’s no room at the inn –
could you help with the bills and fill our food bin?

We count on your kindness each day of the year –
can you give more than hope to everyone here?

Please make a donation to pay for the heat…
and help get us something special to eat.

The shelter that cares for us wants us to live,
and more of us will, if more people will give.

Rearranging the furniture

I thought the couch was in need of a little redecorating, so I decided to help my humans by doing it all by myself.

After doing all that work, I was so tired that I had to take a nap! And of course, my humans were there to capture the moment.

Snow!

It finally snowed!!! I was so happy when my human brother took me to the doggie park and it started snowing! It didn't snow much, but I'm still furry happy! Too bad my brother didn't take any pictures...I'll tell him to bring a camera if there's still snow at the park tomorrow.

There's a Wolf in the House!!

Well...not a REAL wolf. My mommy says she won't bring home a real wolf for me to play with. But my sister "adopted" a wolf family by donating to the Defenders of Wildlife organization's Adopt a Wolf program. She says that a lot of wolves and cubs are being killed by hunters who shoot at them from airplanes. Although it was outlawed a long time ago, a new law may make it legal for hunters to kill wolves again. My sister was really angry because she says that some humans can be so greedy...she says hunters in Alaska kill wolves so that humans can have more moose and caribou for themselves. I don't really know what a moose and caribou is, but I think all wolves in Alaska can use our help. Maybe woo can ask for a donation to the wolves instead of a Christmas gift! If woor human can help, ask them to go to this website:

Wildlife Adoption and Gift Center

I've also posted a short video that explains aerial hunting on the sidebar of my blog.

Thanks everypuppy!

Upset Tummy

I hope everypuppy had a woonderful Thanksgiving with lots and lots of treats from their humans. I would've updated sooner, but I had an upset tummy on Friday and Saturday, which prevented me from getting on the computer. I'm almost all better now, so I'm back!

It was raining all day today so I couldn't go to the doggy park =( So I've been helping around the house like my friends Steve and Kat! Here's me helping my sister do the dishes.

My mommy thought it would be really funny to make me wear a "jacket" like her...while I was trying to sleep! Very funny, haha.

Since I couldn't go out to play, my sister and I played with my Night Wubba! Look at how the camera made it look all cool!

My humans are complaining all the time about how it's so "cold" outside. I don't know what they're talking about, but I thought it was supposed to snow when it's "cold"? Where's the snow?? I'm still waiting!!

Siberian Husky Property Laws

My sister got this in an e-mail again, and she says it's almost too accurate...I don't think so...I love to share with her! (not)

1. If I like it, it's mine.

2. If it's in my mouth, it's mine.

3. If I had it a little while ago, it's mine.

4. If I can take it from you, it's mine.

5. It it's mine, it must never appear to be yours.

6. If it just looks like mine, it's mine.

7. If I saw it first, it's mine.

8. If it's edible, it's mine.

9. If you have something and put it down, it's mine.

10. If I chew something up, all the pieces are mine.

11. If I get tired of it, it's yours.

12. If I want it back, it's mine.

13.If it's broken, it's yours

A Little Poem

I'm letting my human sister take over only for today just because she said she wanted to share something with everyone. She received an e-mail from a group online that included a little poem about rescued dogs.

This poem is dedicated to all rescued dogs and those who are still patiently waiting in shelters for a human to call their own.

"I rescued a human today.

Her eyes met mine as she walked down the corridor,
peering apprehensively into the kennels.
I felt her need instantly and knew I had to help her.

I wagged my tail, not too exuberantly, so she wouldn't be afraid.
As she stopped at my kennel,
I blocked her view from a little accident I had in the back of my cage.
I didn't want her to know that I hadn't been walked today.
Sometimes the shelter keepers get too busy,
and I didn't want her to think poorly of them.

As she read my kennel card,
I hoped that she wouldn't feel sad about my past.
I only have the future to look forward to
and want to make a difference in someone's life.

She got down on her knees and made little kissy sounds at me.
I shoved my shoulder and side of my head
up against the bars to comfort her.
Gentle fingertips caressed my neck;
she was desperate for companionship.
A tear fell down her cheek,
and I raised my paw to assure her that all would be well.

Soon my kennel door opened,
and her smile was so bright that I instantly jumped into her arms.
I would promise to keep her safe.
I would promise to always be by her side.
I would promise to do everything I could to see that radiant smile and sparkle in her eyes.

I was so fortunate that she came down my corridor.
So many more are out there who haven't walked the corridors.
so many more to be saved.
At least I could save one.

I rescued a human today. "

My sister's home!

My human sister came home from some place called "college" yesterday. She's only staying for the weekend, but I was so happy to see her! I was wondering where she had been all week! Now that she's home, it means that I can finally update my blog and upload new pictures.

Yesterday was such a bad day. It was raining a lot and there was a "tornado warning" in our area (whatever that means), so I couldn't stay at the doggie park for a long time! To make it even worse, my sister and brother thought that I hadn't taken a B-A-T-H in a long time, so...so...I GOT A B-A-T-H! They thought it was really funny, but I didn't!

Anyway, to make up for it, they let me play at the dog park today, and got me presents from Petsmart! But just to show them that I was still upset about the B-A-T-H, I made sure to get myself dirty at the park again.

I want to share with all my friends the new toys I got today and ones my mommy bought me recently.

Yay! I finally have a Cuz! My sister bought me an orange Good Cuz and a red Bad Cuz. I really like how bouncy they are!

My mommy bought me two Wubbas!! I got one red regular Wubba and one orange Night Wubba. I don't know if my family is trying to start a trend with all these orange and red toys...

My sister took a random picture of me...if woo look closely enough, woo can see that I have some dirt on my face and shoulders from the dog park. =)

My sister takes the most embarrassing pictures of me! I thought I could have a moment of privacy, but my sister took a picture of me "licking my pee-pee" as she calls it. =( I need a doggy lawyer!

My sister thought it would be really funny to show everyone pictures of the "damage" I've done to the house. I'm just gonna say that I'm innocent until proven guilty! She doesn't have a picture of me caught in the act!

Have a Woonderful day everypuppy!!

It's Been a While...

Yes, I'm finally back! I haven't been on for like what...3 weeks? My sister has been really lazy about letting me on the computer. Anywoo! New pictures!

I was really bored, so I decided to play on the couch. My mommy was not too happy about putting the cushions back.

It was a really nice day out and I wanted to go out so bad!! So my brother and I sat outside on the lawn. As woo can see, my brother likes playing with my ears...=(

Can't a dog have some privacy?? I'm trying to sleep and my sister can't help but take a picture of me. She says my feet and legs look really really dirty, but I say it was the camera's fault. My legs aren't really that dirty...

And finally, this is me sleeping on the couch! Aren't I so cute?? No wonder my sister keeps taking pictures of me.

Calling for Treat Recipes!

Finally, my WOOing for more variety in my food has gotten through to my human sister. She has decided to look into making me my own treats at home, so that I won't have to eat the same things every day! I never thought I would get this idea through to them! So, I'm calling for any of woor favorite treat recipes that woor humans make for woo! My human likes things very simple...preferably requiring no ovens since she has a tendancy to burn things. Sometimes humans can be so silly...

I love my mommy!

Sometimes humans can be so annoying. But today I really really love my mommy. Being the picky eater that I am (hey, I'm a husky!), I've been refoosing to eat my chicken leg quarter for dinner, so she cut it into smaller pieces so that it would be easier for me to eat. Less work for me! My brother calls me "spoiled", but I don't think I'm THAT spoiled...I just like to eat things that are more manageable. PLUS, I'm cute! So I deserve to be spoiled, no?

A Pain in the WHAT??

The weather's finally getting colder! I thought it would never make up its mind...one day it would be cool and then the next day it would be hot...but TODAY, it's finally cool again! I was so excited this morning that I kept asking my mommy to take me outside so that I can roll around in the grass. I know she was doing something else, but what could be more important than ME?? If she wasn't paying attention, I gave her a good WWWWOOOOO WWWWWOOOOO so that she'd take me outside. After we did that a couple of times and I asked her again, she looked at me and said, "Again?? Hero, you're being a pain in the butt today." EXCUSE ME?? I'm a pain in the WHAT?? Is it too much for a husky to ask to be taken out? It's not like I only wanted to roll around in the grass...I also wanted to watch what our neighbors were up to...I think I deserve to be taken out whenever I want...In the end, she took me out again just 'cause I'm cute. :)

Sad News Today

My mommy told my sister some sad news today. She told her that she had to go to the hospital last night (I was wondering where she went without me!) to visit a relative who is dying with something called "cancer". I don't exactly know what that means, but my mommy said that she only had a few days left, so I'm guessing that the relative is really sick. My mommy says that she'll be going to a better place where she won't be sick anymore called "Heaven". I don't know where that is, but I'm just happy to hear that she won't be in pain anymore soon.

Husky Smackdown!!

Finally! After a LLLOOONNNGGG wait, my human sister has figured out how to upload videos on here! This is a long video of Molly and woors trwooly wrestling at the doggie park. WHOO says only humans can wrestle? Woo mean the ridiculous moves humans do on TV and call it "Smackdown"?? I can show 'em any day that huskies know how to TRULY wrestle. See if woo can figure out which one I am!

In the video, there was also a red husky. I think she likes me! Her mom and other humans at the park say that she's my girlfriend. I think she's very pretty and fluffy. I like to escort her to the door when her mom decides to leave.

Meet My Twin Sister Molly!!

This is my twin sister, Molly. We are from the same litter but she lives with another family who lives in Germantown, MD. We first met at the doggy park this summer...and I thought I was seeing things!! There were TWWOOO of me!! Isn't she pwetty?? She is my favorite mud-wrestling buddy at the park. My human sister and brother say that Molly and I should celebrate our birthdays together next year. Does that mean two cakes?

This was Molly when she first went to her new home. We looked like twins when we were little!!

And...This is me!!

My human sister is trying to upload videos of me and Molly wrestling on my blog, but I think she's having a little trouble figuring out howwww...

Time for New Food?

My mommy's a bit worried about me these days. She says I'm losing a lot of weight because I'm not eating enough. Well, I have been really hungry for the last couple of days, but I'm tired of eating the same kibble and chicken! Sure, I can give a good howl or two during dinner and get some human food, but I'm still very hungry. So my sister did a lot of research and ordered new food for me. Since I'm very allergic to a lot of ingredients in most of the kibble out there, I'm on a special "freeze dried" raw diet with real meat, bones, and organs, and all the good stuff. I can't wait to try it!
Here are some pictures of me!

This was me when I was about 3 months old. My mom and my brother took me outside to the front lawn and let me play. It was quite sunny, so I decided to rest for a while.

Here's me trying to drink water at the doggy park! Finally, this is a more recent picture of me, at 14 months. My mommy loves this picture of me. She says it shows how silly my facial expressions are sometimes...

This is me when I was 2 months old! I can't believe I was so tiny!

My brother and mommy love to take pictures of me...and why wouldn't they? I take such cute pictures :)

My first snow day! My brother took me outside as soon as he came home from school. I love eating the squishy white stuff!

I'm Hero!

Hello!

My name is Hero. I am 16 months old. My human family still calls me a baby, but I think I'm a big boy now. I just had my first birthday party in June... with a yummy cake! I live with my human mommy, two human sisters, and one human brother.

My human brother's name is Jae. He's my bestest friend. I don't like it when he leaves me alone to go somewhere he calls "school", but I know he'll always come back. I'm too cute to leave alone for too long.

My mommy gives me yummy treats EVERY day. I like following her to her store while my brother's at "school" because she always pays attention to me. Sometimes she interacts with other humans for too long, but I know a good howl or two is enough to get her attention back on me. :)

My family loves me very much, and I love them very much too. I give them daily kisses and entertain them with random acts of cuteness. I can't be cute too much because I don't want to spoil them. So far they're doing a good job keeping up with the amount of cookies and treats I deserve. They could take me out to the doggy park more often, but I give them credit for trying.

Nappy before playtime!
